Therapy for Men and Couples in Nashville and Brentwood, TN

You don’t have to keep carrying it alone.

Whether you're exhausted from trying to hold everything together, stuck in the same arguments with your partner, or wondering why life feels harder than it should, therapy can help you move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and connection.

Individual therapy for men. Couples counseling. A place to be honest, challenged, and supported.

Maybe you’ve been telling yourself…

  • "I should be able to handle this on my own."

  • "I'm tired of having the same fight with my spouse."

  • "I feel disconnected—from my partner, from myself, or from the life I thought I'd have."

  • "I'm successful on the outside, but anxious, overwhelmed, or burned out on the inside."

  • "I don't even know how to explain what I'm feeling anymore."

If any of that sounds familiar, you're not alone.

Many of the people I work with have spent years pushing through, taking care of everyone else, or hoping things would eventually get better. Therapy offers a different path—one where you don't have to figure it all out by yourself.

Therapy for Men

Most men weren't taught how to talk about what they're feeling.

Instead, they learned to work harder, stay busy, push emotions aside, or carry the weight alone.

That approach can work—for a while.

Eventually it often shows up as anxiety, irritability, burnout, relationship struggles, loneliness, or a sense that you've somehow lost yourself.

My work with men isn't about changing who you are.

It's about helping you better understand yourself, strengthen your relationships, and build a life that feels more connected and meaningful.

I help men with:

  • Anxiety and stress

  • Burnout

  • Relationship struggles

  • Emotional disconnection

  • Career and leadership challenges

  • Fatherhood

  • Life transitions

  • Men's mental health

Couples Therapy

Healthy relationships don't avoid conflict.

They learn how to repair it.

Whether you're caught in the same painful cycle, struggling to communicate, recovering from broken trust, or simply feeling more like roommates than partners, couples therapy can help you understand one another in new ways and rebuild connection.

Together we'll work toward helping you:

  • Communicate more effectively

  • Resolve recurring conflict

  • Rebuild trust

  • Deepen emotional intimacy

  • Strengthen your marriage

  • Feel like a team again

Chad Douglas Johnson, LMFT

Meet Chad

I'm Chad Johnson, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist serving Nashville and Brentwood.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent years working in leadership, nonprofit organizations, higher education, government, and the creative arts. Those experiences continue to shape how I work today. I understand the pressures that come with demanding careers, marriage, parenting, and trying to be everything for everyone.

Clients often tell me they appreciate that therapy with me feels both compassionate and practical. I'll listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and gently challenge the patterns that may be keeping you stuck. My goal isn't simply to help you feel better—it's to help you build healthier relationships with yourself and the people who matter most.

You don't have to choose between feeling understood and being challenged. Therapy should provide both.

My personalized approach is grounded in evidence-based models like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Relational Life Therapy, while always adapting to your unique story and goals.

Whether you're coming on your own or with your partner, our work together is centered on helping you experience greater connection, resilience, and hope.
